Tic Tac Toe 2 Player

Tic tac toe (also called noughts and crosses, or X's and O's) is the game almost everyone learns first, and it's still a good way to settle an argument with the person next to you.

Ultimate Tic Tac Toe Multiplayer gives you a few ways to play:

• 2 Players: two people take turns on the same screen. Player 1 is X and moves first.
• CPU: play against the computer when you're on your own.
• Online: the globe button on the start screen opens the online mode.

You can also pick the size of the grid: the classic 3×3, or bigger 5×5 and 7×7 boards. The bigger grids are a nice change once the 3×3 game always ends in a draw between you, because there's much more room to set traps. The line under the board tells you how many marks you need to line up.

Tic tac toe rules

1. Two players take turns. One is X, the other is O. X goes first.
2. On your turn, place your mark in any empty square.
3. The first player to get three of their marks in a row, horizontally, vertically or diagonally, wins.
4. If all nine squares are filled and nobody has three in a row, the game is a draw (sometimes called a cat's game).

How to play 2 player on one screen

Press the play button with the screen icon, choose your grid, select 2 Players and start. Pass the mouse or phone back and forth, and swap who is X after each game so both players get to start.

Tips

• Start in a corner or the centre. These squares are part of more winning lines than the edges.
• Always block first. If your opponent has two in a row with an empty third square, block it before doing anything else.
• Make a fork. The winning trick is a move that creates two different lines of two at once. Your opponent can only block one.
