Dominoes 2 Player

Dominoes is a great game for two: a full round takes a few minutes, luck and planning both matter, and there is always a rematch. Domino Online Multiplayer lets you play it in your browser with nothing to install.

The start menu offers several ways to play. According to the developer, you can:

• Play the computer on nine difficulty levels, which is handy for learning the rules or warming up.
• Fight live players online in real-time duels, with ratings and statistics.
• Play with a friend: you send a link and play together, even if you are far apart. This is the mode to pick when you want a dominoes 2 player game with someone you know.

The game also has hints, an undo button, time control, a history of moves and a chat, so it is friendly to beginners. We opened the game and checked the menu and the board (undo and hint buttons included). The online and friend modes need other people, so we could not try them ourselves and rely on the developer's description for how they work. The menu is shown in your browser's language.

Dominoes rules (draw game for two players)

1. A classic set has 28 tiles. Each tile is split into two halves showing 0 to 6 dots.
2. Each player takes 7 tiles. The rest stay face down in the market (also called the boneyard).
3. The player holding the highest double, such as double six, plays first. If nobody has a double, the highest tile starts.
4. Players take turns adding a tile that matches the number at one end of the chain. A 4 goes next to a 4, and so on.
5. If you have no tile that fits, draw from the market until you get one. Drawing a lot is a disadvantage, because the more tiles you hold, the more points you risk.
6. A round ends when one player plays their last tile, or when the game is blocked and nobody can move.
7. The winner scores the total number of dots left in the loser's hand. In a blocked game, the player with fewer dots left wins the difference.
8. Play several rounds until one player reaches the agreed total, often 50 to 300 points.

Tips to win more rounds

• Get rid of high tiles early. Tiles like 6-6 and 5-6 cost the most if you get stuck holding them.
• Keep a mix of numbers. If your tiles cover many different numbers, you will almost always have a legal move and avoid drawing.
• Watch what your opponent picks up. If they keep drawing, they probably lack one number, so try to steer play toward it.
• Use doubles wisely. A double can only be played once, so playing it early stops you from being stuck with it.
• Block when you are ahead. If you have fewer dots than your opponent, closing the chain can win the round.
